IF IT DOESN'T MEAN A THING

you might be wondering, "so, just how fucking awesome IS grizzly bear's new album if genevieve didn't blog for two weeks because she was so busy listening to it?" well now you can answer that question because you can listen to cheerleader (aka. one of nine jams of all jams on the album) legitimately on the fader:
CHEERLEADER --- GRIZZLY BEAR.
i posted a live version of this a little while ago but here's the album version. i can't stress enough how ridiculously incredible this song is.

continuing in the vein of this morning, here's WHITE SKY ON TV --- VAMPIRE WEEKEND. it is a good day to be irrationally obsessed with this band. this version is a whole lot slower than the one they play live, but it sounds pretty with strings...

and here's something really awesome i found...
CECELIA (SIMON AND GARFUNKEL COVER) --- LOCAL NATIVES. one of my favorite s+g songs, a great cover with some great percussion!

IT IS A GOOD DAY

like i said
it is a good day

youtube, you never fail me. from what i can tell this is really good.
EDIT: six listens more at 7:00AM prove as fact that this is really good. this makes me realize how much i have missed the yelp in my life lately.... and HOLY SHIT DRUMS!

IT'S BEEN SO LONG...

...since i obsessively and speculatively blogged about vampire weekend!

are they playing A NEW SONG on jimmy fallon tomorrow night / thursday morning?

"it should be fun and different. [...] things are happening." --- ezra koenig via MYSPACE BLOG NOTE
i am sure i am reading too much into this and they will probably just play the kids don't stand a chance or something. but would it not be ridiculously awesome if they just busted out white sky (which sounds better and better with every youtube video i watch)? THINK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES!!!

EDIT: LOOKS LIKE I WAS RIGHT! pitchfork's tom breihan adds that it's a "really good song." well, obviously!

GIFTS

here's a really cute song...
SCATTERED DIAMONDS --- HUNGRY KIDS OF HUNGARY.

and here's a great short story, if you've got time...
WIRELESS --- KIPLING

I AM SO SORRY

WHY I HAVE NOT BEEN BLOGGING:
i have been too busy listening to veckatimest, which might be 806x better than any album released in the last year.

this coincidental picture happens to sum up my awe and respect of it:

here's a little gem from their last legitimate release:
LITTLE BROTHER (ELECTRIC) --- GRIZZLY BEAR.

WHAT NOW WHAT NOW WHAT NOW WHAT NOW WHAT

SO GUYS, ON SATURDAY I SAW GRIZZLY BEAR WITH A PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA!

stolen from stereogum, sorry / thanks.

i fail as a blogger with no effective words to describe this show. listen to this recording of colorado while i try to make sense of my feelings.
COLORADO (LIVE AT BAM) --- GRIZZLY BEAR

you will be pleased to know that all of the new stuff sounded absolutely, incomparably, devastatingly amazing. they played three new songs for the first time: ready able, dory, and foreground, and they played while you wait for the others and two weeks (some tears in my eyes during this one).

i will write a real review as soon as i can and put it up here.
