i was about to write something about authenticity and appropriation and the difference between real and fake. as a music writer and a music listener you can decry bands for playing with sounds that they didn't create to play with and you can call it all fake, but living in the first world who are you to say you know what real is? but then i was thinking that the very best have just made a very good album, and they have made it with some help from two of my favorite voices in all the world, and i have never been the kind of person who considers all this political and cultural shit because all i have done is listened, and that's all we are meant to do, and that is good enough.
